Glasgow, SCOTLAND. Sistemic Ltd. Announced today that it has been successful in securing funding from Scottish Enterprise, under the SMART: SCOTLAND grant scheme, that will aid and accelerate the company’s plans to develop a range of exosome-based products and introduce them into the cell therapy market in the latter part of 2015. Exosomes have recently become of major scientific and commercial interest due to their ubiquitous presence in a range of prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms, where they have been found to be secreted from cells and play a role in cellular communication thus having an impact on a range of physiological and pathological processes. Their unique ability to provide a snapshot of the current state of the cell and documented presence in a wide range of body fluids and cell culture media highlights their potential to advance the fields of cell characterisation and non-invasive disease diagnostics.
