SDS Funded Lab Skills Course to be Delivered by Edinburgh Napier
Released: Monday 7th April 2014
Life Science Opportunities
Have you always hoped to work as a laboratory scientist or science professional? Do you always miss out because you have no work experience or limited technical skills?
Skills Development Scotland has been working with the Life Sciences industry on an initiative to help you to secure a job within the Life Science community.
Science qualifications these days incorporate less technical laboratory skills and commercial awareness than employers would like. We can help you bridge that gap. Through an exciting opportunity funded by Skills Development Scotland, you will attend a two week training course delivered by Edinburgh Napier University at the state-of-the-art laboratories of BioCity Scotland. You will work to build both technical and soft skills the science industries need for their businesses in the highly competitive national and global marketplace they now operate in.
To qualify for consideration you will have a minimum of a Life Science degree. Opportunities are available for both technicians and graduate scientists in these categories ie:
· Graduates in employment, should have been in a lab based role for no longer than 6 months
· Unemployed graduates should have been out of work no longer than 2 years
· Employed but working within another industry no longer than 2 years
Please register your interest at labskills@sds.co.uk and we will send you a simple questionnaire for eligibility on to the course. The deadline for applications is 4pm on 16th May 2014. The start date for the programme proper is June 2014.
